- Revolutionizing an industry in just 800 square feet is a daunting task, yet it is the one that was laid before us by an energetic and forward-thinking client who wants to be a catalyst for the change occurring in the tea industry. The Traditional English tea shop, full of dark woods and classical detailing, is being replaced with bold colors and clean lines in this design that captures the essence of where the industry is heading. The main focal point, and genesis for the design, is the bar top. The non-traditional shape and bright chartreuse color are the first of many bold strokes in this small space. The purple soffit above the bar creates a sense of place wherein the main activities of brewing, serving, and selling the tea occurs. This focal point is embraced by two walls of slightly angled shelving, capped with a brightly colored band of display niches that help focus one’s attention inward. The main display shelving is adjustable, allowing it to accommodate the anticipated changes in this retail market as it evolves. The importance of marrying the architecture with the branded graphics completes the design of the concept and defines the elements that can be carried to other locations as the brand grows.
