Oconee Hall Renovation

Tri-County Technical College
Pendleton, SC

Tri-County Technical College is “committed to transforming lives and building strong communities.” The new Oconee Hall renovation is an extension of this mission and a reflection of the College’s commitment to the success of their students, faculty, and staff. Oconee Hall is a three-story academic building located on TCTC’s Pendleton Campus. The 34,000 square-foot academic building will be completely gutted and renovated to include new classrooms and offices. A new addition will house additional programmed space, while civil and landscape work will include a new drop-off and revitalized green space. The existing 200-seat auditorium will be modernized with new equipment and AV capabilities along with new mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems throughout. The vision for the Oconee Hall renovation is to provide a space that encourages faculty collaboration and ensures student success. The DP3 Architects team is utilizing higher education design strategies to encourage students to stay on campus and take advantage of several collaborative lounges and study spaces. Designing environments that encourage students to stay on campus is crucial for optimizing their educational experience, fostering engagement, and creating a sense of community. Factors like these contribute to higher retention rates, academic success, and overall satisfaction among students and faculty. Overall, the design draws from TCTC’s recent brand refresh and compliments the existing campus buildings. The renovation is anticipated to be completed in late 2024.
