Carolina Rising is a new museum that immerses visitors in the stories of loyalists and patriots of Cherokee County during the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution. Located in downtown Gaffney, the museum offers visitors a dynamic, story-driven experience rooted in the region’s rich history.
DP3 Architects joined the City of Gaffney, the Cherokee County community, and historical reenactors to celebrate the grand opening of this one-of-a-kind cultural destination. The project reflects a collaborative effort to honor local heritage while introducing innovative storytelling methods.
In partnership with the City of Gaffney and TimeLooper, DP3 Architects transformed a historic Carnegie Library that was originally constructed in 1914 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, into a state-of-the-art immersive museum experience.
Through AI-powered 3D characters and digital interactive simulations, guests are transported to the pivotal battles of Kings Mountain and Cowpens. Centrally located between Cowpens National Battlefield and Kings Mountain National Military Park, the museum is poised to become a nationally significant tourism destination and a catalyst for economic development and Main Street revitalization in Cherokee County.
