Simpsonville City Hall & Police Headquarters
As part of the new Simpsonville Municipal Complex, the City Hall and Police Headquarters were designed to be a symbol of transparency, progress, and community connection. DP3 Architects worked closely with the City of Simpsonville to bring these two essential civic functions together under one roof, creating a shared facility that supports efficient operations while enhancing the experience for staff and the public.
Central to the Municipal Complex design is the “Ellipse,” a distinct feature that houses the council chamber and serves as both a visual landmark and functional centerpiece. Inside, the chamber’s floor-to-ceiling windows offer natural daylight and a direct visual connection to Downtown Simpsonville, reinforcing transparency and civic engagement in government. With the use of SageGlass’s Electrochromic technology, the windows in the council chambers automatically tint throughout the day to reduce glare, maintain comfortable temperatures, and keep views to the outdoors clear and uninterrupted.

The public lobby serves as a central hub that welcomes visitors with clear wayfinding and comfortable waiting areas. The custom metal light wall and water feature was designed to portray an abstract tree canopy to tie the space back to Gracely Park. The two-story space is flooded with natural light and designed with durable, modern finishes that balance professionalism with warmth. Designated seating areas, modern furnishings, and a historical Simpsonville timeline reflect the City’s growth and their commitment to a welcoming environment.
The Police Headquarters within the complex features state-of-the-art technology, secure facilities, and dedicated spaces for patrol, administration, and investigations. Designed with both safety and wellbeing in mind, the department offers a professional, highly functional workspace that supports the critical work of law enforcement in a growing community.

A unique feature of the facility is the rear balcony, which overlooks the newly redeveloped Gracely Park. This outdoor space provides connection between government and community life, offering staff and visitors sweeping views of the multipurpose fields, playgrounds, and amphitheater. It’s a place where civic service and public recreation intersect.
The new City Hall and Police Headquarters were designed to support the daily work of city staff and provide a welcoming, functional space for the community. By bringing key departments together in one location, the facility improves efficiency and creates a more accessible experience for residents
